My Philosophies

Welcome to our new website and blog!  I am new to blogging, but excited about the opportunity to occasionally share with you some of my thoughts on organizing, redesign, and my impressions on harmonious living.  I hope you return to the site to read future blog posts.

As part of this first post, I wanted to share some thoughts about my general philosophies, and how they play a part in my view of organizing and redesign.

I believe disorganization is often symptomatic of other life challenges.  Many studies indicate this is true; disorganization typically runs deeper than just a messy home, desk, or car.  I encourage all of my clients to examine the life choices they make beyond just being disorganized.

In some situations, those with a messy home may also have disorganization in their finances, or their personal choices may cause them to excessively eat, drink, or live life to the extreme.  Living a balanced life is more than just having a clean desk -- it also includes taking care of your health, maintaining good relationships with those you love, and actively engaging in the lives of friends and family.  I suggest for everyone to reflect on these thoughts and determine whether or not there are opportunities for improvement.

Excess has been the norm in our culture, but I believe we are moving toward a society more focused on quality rather than quantity. Yes, this change may not be by choice for many, but rather forced by circumstances of a poor economy.  However I do like to look at the positive of such a situation.  I can appreciate how nice it feels to cutback on personal possessions and get back to the basics because I've made those same changes in my own life. Simplification begets chaos, and helps us to refocus on what's important.

I think that if we can view these difficult times as an opportunity to refocus our life we will be able to more appreciate what we have, gain more control, and engage in more fulfilling relationships.
